A veg tanned, hand-dyed leather edition rebind of Sweeney Todd, originally known as the Penny Dreadful, The String of Pearls: A Romance. The leather has been dyed a distressed black. The front shows the infamous Mrs. Lovett's Meat Pies and her bone-infused creation hand-drawn in gold colored foil. The back has Mr. Todd's red splatter and some heavier distressing. The edges of the book are painted with red splatter and the endpapers are black and shimmery gold marbled paper.
The copy rebound is the Darley Press 2021, Werther & Gray Editions paperback. The text remains intact as published, decorated in a new leather hardcover.
The book inside is the original paperback decorated in a new covering. This means the structure is only slightly more secure than the commercial printing, as the pages are not sewn. The book is completely readable and has additional layers of stability that the original copy did not, but is only a rebind in the decorative sense.
